Waterside Village residents are invited to attend an informative presentation hosted by the Canadian Snowbirds Association. This session is designed to help Canadian residents better understand travel, residency, and compliance requirements when spending time in the United States.
The presentation will be delivered by Johanne Blain, First Vice-President and Director of the Canadian Snowbirds Association for the Province of Québec and the Canadian Francophonie.
Topics Covered During the Presentation
The session will address many practical and frequently asked questions, including:
- What the Canadian Snowbirds Association is and how it supports members
- Advocacy efforts with Canadian and U.S. governments
- Preparing for travel to the United States
- Crossing the Canadian and U.S. borders
- How many days Canadians may legally stay in the United States
- Understanding immigration documents:
- I-94 (U.S. Customs and Border Protection)
- G-325R (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services)
- New biometric requirements
- U.S. tax and residency forms:
- Form 8840
- Form W-8BEN
- The proposed Canadian Snowbird Visa Act
- Travel medical insurance considerations
- Benefits of becoming a member of the Canadian Snowbirds Association
A question-and-answer period will conclude the presentation.

Following the presentation, Ms. Blain will remain available to answer additional individual questions.
Residents who wish to do so will have the opportunity to complete a membership application on site:
